2205 Cass avenue

In July 2025, the University of Michigan Center for Innovation in Detroit (UMCI) announced plans to lease a new residential tower at 2205 Cass Avenue. The project is being developed by Related Companies in partnership with Olympia Development of Michigan.

The approximately 235,000-square-foot tower will rise 13 stories and include 313 residential units. It will be constructed adjacent to the UMCI building at the corner of Columbia Street and Cass Avenue.

“The residential component added by this tower is a critical aspect of the center, as it will give our students and faculty the opportunity to immerse themselves in an innovative community, dedicated to opportunity and economic development,” said UMCI Director Scott Shireman.
